Roger 10, thought provoking article, i have always said the mans ego will let us all down, because where go USA , go us. When two bully boys start ramping up the talk, one of them will have to make a move, and this could be the BIG one. How can a Country so large as the USA be sucked in by a bully boy con merchant ?, kt

Well I am sure old fat boy is bricking it today. Just spotted this little gem in the Telegraph a well respected newspaper(by some)

    https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknew...cid=spartandhp

Yes great idea let's make sure old fat chops now zeros in on the UK. Who in there right mind writes this rubbish, has it come from a government source? who has issued this statement.
We have the ships type 45 & type 23 frigates and also the Queen Elizabeth will be rushed into service, , I thought one advantage of having an aircraft carrier was to actually have aircraft for it to fly off and land on. Do the RN actually have any trained pilots for carriers yet.
If it has come from the ministry of defence ?? what are they smoking over there( who said that before )
It really is time the powers that be acted as if they knew what any likely outcome of letting America drag the UK back into a conflict on the Korean peninsula is likley to be. Let's face it last time there was not exactly a stunning success and very nearly caused another world war. Yes Kim is a danger but there again so is the present idiot in the white house. Time to tell johnny boy Amreica you start this one you will NOT be getting any backing from the UK.

Among the plans disclosed by the Daily Mail is the deployment of the Navy's newest aircraft carrier, HMS Queen Elizabeth, before it has undergone flight trials.

"We have plenty of ships to send… the Type-45 destroyers, the Type-23 frigates. Britain’s new aircraft carrier could be pressed into service early if things turn south," a senior Whitehall source told the newspaper.

How many countries has NK attacked since 1953 at the end of hostilities.??

How many countries has the US attacked since 1953.??

So who is the Good Guy and who is the Bad Guy??

#14.. once again just shows the intelligence of certain people and lack of knowledge of 1950. The Korean War was fought not only against NK but against the Chinese army also, and we all know how far advanced China has become. China if the truth was really known would imagine still retains memory's of the past. On a purely land war Britain would be flattened as soldier to soldier, a couple of nuclear air bursts would wipe out all surface vessels. In 1950 we had national service. Today we have next to nothing. I have always said the media causes half the problems in the world. Time they shut their gobs for once. The USA like it or not will decide what action to take. So instead of trying to pull the US presidency to pieces the media should put their malice and poor reporting elsewhere. JWS

Sorry Johnno, but you are wrong. POTUS has the say and can order the launch of nukes at any time. It does not require approval or agreement by the Joint Chiefs of Staff, or Congressional approval. In the event of a launch by N.K. or any other Nuclear Nation there is at most seventeen minutes between launch and arrival. An attack would require instant retaliation. Retaliation on N.K. would be in and estimated three minutes from notification, to go, to a N.K. waste land. The U.S. has nuclear armed submarines in all areas of interest. Such a short time window is why the authority is strictly in the hands of the leader of a nuclear country, Quotes of interest:.

"Donald Trump, December 15, 2015: “The biggest problem we have is nuclear—nuclear proliferation and having some maniac, having some madman go out and get a nuclear weapon. That's in my opinion that is the single biggest problem that our country faces right now.”"

"The "nuclear button" is a figurative term referring to the power to use nuclear weapons.[1] "Pushing the nuclear button" refers to actually using them. The actual procedure for using such weapons is more complex than simply pushing a button.[2] The "nuclear button" may be transferred to another official due to political changes or the incapacitation of a person currently in control of it.[3]"
"Various nuclear countries have nuclear briefcases that accompany the leader (such as the president of the United States) allowing him or her to launch nuclear missiles at any time."

"A nuclear briefcase is a specially outfitted briefcase used to authorize the use of nuclear weapons and is usually kept nearby the leader of a nuclear weapons state at all times."

"In the atomic age, when decisions must be made very quickly, the presidency has evolved into something akin to a nuclear monarchy. With a single phone call, the commander in chief has virtually unlimited power to rain down nuclear weapons on any adversarial regime and country at any time."*

The 'nuclear laptop', as it has been nicknamed, is a black briefcase, the contents of which are to be used by the President of the United States of America to authorize a nuclear attack while away from fixed command centers, such as the White House Situation Room. It functions as a mobile hub in the strategic defense system of the United States.

Sleep easy tonight Johnno, Trump's watching over your safety.

    Hi Rod.
My wife and I are digging a hole in our garden, we don't know whether to plant tomatoes or keep digging.
I keep thinking of the kids of today whether they are worried about what is going on, then I suppose unlike us back in the Cuban crises days where the kids were terrified, they only listen too their mobile phones and the trash that is life today.
    Cheers Des
