After World War II, the HSwMS Gotland served as a training ship. Starting 1953 and finishing in 1954 she was modified to allow her to serve as a fighter direction ship in the event of war as well as a training ship in peacetime. She was decommissioned in 1956, struck off in 1960, sold in 1962 and finally scrapped in 1963.

The Campania exhibition ship, Festival of Britain ?
In 1951, she was the Festival of Britain's exhibition ship, touring the country's ports with a civilian crew as the Festival Ship Campania to supplement the main exhibition in London and two thousand local events.
The Festival Office's resident designer, James Holland, considered that the vessel would "not convert easily into a showboat", but with the massive demand for shipping to help rebuild Europe after the war, he and his colleagues felt lucky to have any ship at all.
Repainted white, the ship was decorated with skeleton masts and bunting. Officially named the Sea Travelling Exhibition, the exhibits were intended to reflect the main London Exhibition. Like the Festival's Land Travelling Exhibition, they were divided into three sections, the "Land of Britain", "Discovery" and "The People at Home". Between 4 May 1951 and 6 October, the ship visited Southampton, Dundee, Newcastle, Hull, Plymouth, Bristol, Cardiff, Belfast, Birkenhead and Glasgow, staying at each port for 10–14 days.

Remember going on the festival ship. With the present day obsession with Automation the world is going to get to the state that the unemployed is going to be much greater than those working. Every politician espouses the neccecity of jobs and yet these are being continually eroded by big business in making bigger and bigger profits by lowering the workforce numbers. We can see this by the millions on the move trying to get into countries that have a welfare system, where there own governments have not provided for, even though most of these countries have had vast wealth. There will come a time not too far away when Democracy as we know it will cease to exist and something alongside the basic principles of communism will have to take its place to support the millions not working. So those that don't like that alternative they have a couple of choices...Disallow all illegal entry into a country, cut back on automation, or grit your teeth and try and think of communism not as a dirty word, but survival. I do think our feral Labor party is making the way for the removal of persons from the work force to be replaced by robots.
They want a totaly renewable energy power system by 2050, they asy it will create thousands of jobs, yes maybe while they are being made but then a maintainance team of a handful.
They are pushing so much social welfare prposals that make me think under them all will be on a socialist style merry go round.
