Re: 'Stupid Trump'
If our Queen wants him to visit, it is her choice. Best not make anymore remarks about Kate though. At least he will not be able to touch HRH. If he came to Wales I would buy him a pint.

Re: 'Stupid Trump'
A "green card" is the common title for a permanent visa to live and work in the US. A green card holder has all the rights as a native born or naturalized citizen except the right to vote, that is a privilege reserved for American citizens. A green card holder cannot be deported unless he/she lied on their application or committed a treasonable act.
Green card holders have and are being refused entry back into the US after being abroad for family visits or vacation. People in the restricted countries who have spent on average 2 years applying for a green card, and after extreme vetting and being approved for a green card have been taken off planes, refused boarding at the ticket counter and detained and some shipped back to their own country (the seven restricted countries).
The head of a household, an Iraqi family, was employed for years as a translator to the US army has been turned back from his flight. He and his wife sold there house and car, quit there jobs, kids out of school, all of them ready to go to the US. Turned away.
The news is reporting that the presidential order is going to be modified to allow green card holders and those (like this family) to return or enter the US.
It seems to me this presidential order was not thought out, but rushed in order to show Trumps supporters that he is off and running.
The uproar across the US is because America is a nation of immigrants. Trump is a third generation on his mothers side (Scotland) and fourth on his fathers side (Germany), though he likes to claim Sweden. His German ancestry is well documented.
Why are Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, The emirates, Indonesia, The twenty odd xxxxxstan countries not included too, Surely business interests in Saidi, the Emirates, Lebanon and Indonesia wouldn't have anything to do with it would it?

While the palace has so far stayed quiet about the visit, the Queen realises it is her duty to be friendly and welcoming to all of her guests, and that her hospitality is an important way in which she can serve our country.
She knows the quiet power the Royal Family has on the international stage; they are a secret weapon for the government. An audience with the Queen is enough to make any world leader feel special.
British pageantry at its finest: the dust sheets are pulled off the gold carriages, the state banquet cutlery is polished.
The ultimate in keeping up appearances, even if hundreds of thousands of your subjects would rather this latest guest had stayed at home.
It is always her name on the invitation of a state visit, after all how could any world leader turn down an opportunity to meet Her Majesty?
But she doesn't get to choose her latest guest - these visits always come at the request of the government and Foreign Office.
They decide who is worthy of a full state visit and the latest invitation to President Trump is no different.
To scrap President Trump's state visit would cause embarrassment to Her Majesty the Queen.

#24... When up in port Churchill in the middle sixties Dennis. had come to an agreement with Wolfes Stevedores in Montreal that the following trip up the Hudson Bay that the Deck crew would if necessary go on shore wages when in Churchill. Sure enough after the first day when the stevedores got paid they were gone, I think up to the Hudson Bay store to sample the delights of the various beverages. The stevedores being all of Indian or eskimo extraction. The crowd weren't making any fuss about it as was all extra money for them. Cheers JS

Highly likely very true FOURO #7. It will be interesting to see how the good PM May gets over Trump's deal requirement of 30-day cancellation if the 'other' side misbehaves.

Re: 'Stupid Trump'
There is an outcry because Trump wishes to renforce border control and put controls in place to only allow genuine refugees and immigrants into USA.
Nothing wrong with that, we have had such regulations here in Oz since the 90's.
The world screams at him, yet despots such as Idi Amin, Pol Pot, though seen as terrible people were allowed to carry on. Double standards by any means.
It may have been a bit of a rush by Trump, but the fact is in all his election campaign he said that is what he would do, and they voted for him. Unlike so many weak kneed EU and UK politicians he has the balls to do what he said he would.
No doubt when the dust settles and people begin to look at this in a rational manner rather than an hysterical one they may see some worth in what he wants to do.
No one wants to see GENUINE refugees or immigrants denied access to any country willing to accept them, but before they enter there must be some checks done as to their ability to prove they ae genuine in their efforts.
I am an immigrant whow ent through the correct process to come here. I have no problem with others coming, all I want to know is where from and are they 'kosher' in their coming here?
For years we had 'refugees' coming in by boat from Indonesia, none had any passports or paperwork to prove who they were, why would you want to let such people in?
My next door neighbor works for immigration and border control. He told me that on most days as many as 100 arriving at Sydney or Melbourne airport are turned away as not being genuine.

Re: 'Stupid Trump'
think you have hit the nail on the head there john .....i think most presidents if not all have been to see HM over the last few years ......in this country now it seems we have a nation of complainers.....the same faces whether it be amongst anti missile protesters anti nuclear sub protesters anti frackin etc etc ...they will not give any quarter to anyone else .....but never seem to be at work.....TM worries them as she seems at this stage to set a course and then plow on ....the people of the states voted for trump .....he is the captain they will now have to follow his course ....when i see a man ...right or wrong who stands by his word i give respect for that ......trump is doing fine rattling a few cages no doubt .......now is the time to close our borders regardless of europe ......and let merkel sort out the mess she created in the whole of europe by opening hers to every person who cannot make there own country work... but will jump on our backs and take what the british have worked for centuries to build in peace and war...and thats my view

Re: 'Stupid Trump'
cappy anytime there is a royal occasion in this country union flags flying how many middle eastern dress do you see in the crowds I have yet to see one.. the problems should be sorted not when they get into the usa its in the country of departure? the people of America spoke and mr trump is president I don't think protests will bother him in any way he is doing what according to the voters wanted. I think given time he will make a good president but like all new brooms he got to have a clean up of some of the mess he is trying to light the fire in the bellies of America to get it up and running? trillions has been spent on wars over the past 50 years but to what avail that income could have been spent on many things to make the world a better place.. jp
