#20, Sorry to hear about your friend Ivan that is a terrible thing to happen to anyone, as you say you never know
what is to come, I'm not quite your age I will be 78 one month from today, apart from said afflictions I am reasonably
fit and can run up the stairs 14 treads without losing my breath it's nothing exceptional but it could be worse. It's
good to know that you can still enjoy dancing and music and I fully agree with you about making the most of your
life while you can, I make as much of my life as I can and enjoy the things I can do but I am limited now, everybody
has their moments when they are a bit down in the dumps, music can help to raise your spirits, I love music but now
now I can only go through songs in my mind as it probably sounds better than if it was sung aloud :) imagination
has a grand effect :cool:. I expect there are different levels of tinnitus perhaps it depends on what has caused it, in my
case the inner ear's are damaged by bomb blast trauma, with others it can simply start for no known reason or as
John in Aus says with a bang on the head, one thing I'm sure of is that we could all do without it. Cheers JC

Just a little bit older than you John, don't know what caused the tinnitus, but having had a 60 year working life, a lot in shipyards as Marine Supt, crawling through double bottoms whilst rivetting was going on may not have helped, being bombed out three times may have had a delayed effect plus other noisy situations and working in assholes of places, who knows, but I'm not complaining I've had an interesting life, been shot at, sh*t on, held incommunicado by the Chinese, but I'm still here and kicking and still have to climb 16 steps to my front door, fell down them once, involved 28 stitches in my hand, luckily didn't break anything (had been in plaster for 22 months after being hit by a grab, so had a few broken bones on that occasion) didn't get any sympathy for that as we were going for a day out

All of these things must take there toll over a lifetime of working in adverse conditions and with all of the knocks we
take at sometime or another, its all part and parcel of a mans life, if at the end of the day you get a few years of retirement to enjoy the fruits of your labour, you've earned it enjoy it to the full, like you I have been shot at and
shat upon, the first was by an Italian copper in Genoa and the second was by a seagull while out fishing on a boat in
the Thames estuary, I'm still not sure which one was the most unpleasant. JC
