Re: When is a job not a job ?
Whilst I agree with a lot of what Louis says I will not take him up on his last sentence Vote Labour.Yes I do vote Labour but as long as Corbyn and the crowd he has around him are in charge of the Labour party I'm afraid they will not get my vote and I'm sure the votes of many more Labour supporters.

Cappy SET was intended to subsidise the manufacturing industry from the proceeds of the service industries to help exports. At the end of the year manufacturing industries had the SET refunded plus 7/6d bounty for each employee. It was replaced by Ted Heath with VAT.

Re: When is a job not a job ?
I am entitled to criticise government actions for their constant attacks on the most vulnerable in society including the old , the sick ,disabled and the poor while helping the wealthy to get wealthier. The fact I have worked all my life paid taxes due and have a social conscience gives me that right. I have a very comfortable lifestyle as do my children but many millions do not , the fifth richest country in the world should not have children living in poverty , should not have elderly people lying in hospital because there are no social services to take care of them , should not have young people trying to raise families being paid as less as possible by big business.
We should not have men such as Sir Philip Green , living in the tax haven of Monaco , ripping off pensioners from the bankrupt British Home Stores while he sails the Med in one of three multi million pound yachts he owns. The billionaire Mike Astley , owner of Newcastle United football club and Sports Direct who employs mainly immigrant workers in his vast warehouse all on zero hour contracts and all subject to the three strike and your out rules he imposes. A woman was so afraid of not coming to work she gave birth in a toilet.
While we have such injustice in our country I will continue to criticise .

PUMP UP THE JAMS Theresa May and Philip Hammond will use Autumn Statement to help Britain’s ‘Jams’ – people who are ‘just about managing’
Chancellor wanted to focus on infrastructure spending - but the Prime Minister wants to boost living standards
BY NATASHA CLARK 16th November 2016
THERESA May and Philip Hammond have come up with a plan to help the plight of Britain’s so-called ‘jams’ in the Autumn Statement.
The Chancellor and the Prime Minister had been locked in negotiations over what to focus on in next week’s big budgetary speech.
There have been strained relations between No 10 and No 11
Mr Hammond had wanted to focus on boosting infrastructure and productivity, and to keep spending to a minimum while the UK growth remains slow.
However, the Prime Minister insisted the Autumn Statement feature more spending on working class voters who feel they are being left behind.
The people who are ‘Just About Managing’ have been dubbed as ‘Jams’, and will be the focus of the mini-budget – the first major economic announcement since the new government took over in June.
The Chancellor wanted to adopt a more sober statement for the uncertain climate
It is thought that fuel duty will continue to be frozen after scores of Tory MPs pressed the Chancellor, and further childcare subsidies to help those whose living standards may suffer as a result of expected higher inflation and the fall in the value of the pound.
Mr Hammond is also predicted to raise the income tax threshold to £12,500 and to raise the threshold for the 40p rate of tax to £50,000.
