Tattoos

I knew a woman and whenever I seen her she had a plaster at the top of her right arm,one day I decided to ask her about it,she told me it was a tattoo she had done in her teenage years when she was a "Teddy Girl" her husband hated it and that's why she always had it covered up.She said her and her mates went looking for Sailor Bill's as Brian mentioned,an old woman they stopped and asked said I can tell you where it is but please do not have a tattoo done as you will be very sorry when you get older.I wish I had taken her advice she said.

I was guilty. young and daft, got two on my upper arm. I came home from Gravesend sea school for one of our few weekends, mother saw the tattoo, and i had a bloody good wallop round the ear, i was sixteen years old, kt

Out of interest how many of our members to NOT have a tattoo.

I do have one iand ts been there for 59 years and it will be there now till I pop my clogs, when ever that is.:)

35 years at sea from a boy up never had a tat and never smoked ,but drinking that's another story ,come close to a tat, but a huge fight broke out in the tat parlor ,no tat but a great black eye

never had that drunken ambition to get one. not that I haven't thought about it in later years, the topic does come up at times between Brenda and I.

I was ashore one night in Antwerp with some of the lads. Got totally rat arsed and ended up in a tattoo place an started laying the law down as to what tattoo I wanted. The guy in the shop told me to come back in the morning when I was sober and literally threw me out into the street. Needless to say I didn't go back and remain tattoo free.

Me neither, perhaps my father's influence, he was 40+ years at sea and said before I went to sea, never get a tattoo you may live to regret it, he never had a tattoo either.

Your choice of women is limited if you fall in and out of love with Mary (not Cappy's) you will have to find someone called Marylin to fall in love with and get your tattoo updated!

I was a first trip Deck Boy in Madras, when a little Indian fella came on board and wanted to stow away to Vizagapatam our next port. He was a tattooist and all the Sailors would get a free tattoo if we stowed him away, he said the gangs were after him to kill him.

Was he called Slippery Sam Brian i had three done by him stuffed them all up,All very faded now you can hardly recognize them got all the spelling wrong,useless. That was 1955.Talk was always i was p***** when i had them done with Slippery it was him who was p*****.

As I have said there are a few Tats that I have which are not too bad,but there are others that I had done in places (no not on my Body places LOL) that I should not have been,one Tat in particular was actually forced on me by three Guys,but that's a long story! And No Comment on that I will just keep it Hush Hush! Eeeeek!!:eek:

Two Tats I can tell you about are on each Ankle with the Words 'Buddy Holly"on one and on the other "James Dean" with Remembrance Crosses around their names!
They were my Favourites then and still are Today!
