#106, Sorry Louis no wish to offend you but I don't think for one moment anyone here is defending drug barons or any other low life involved. Presume the fraud squad will deal with the money laundering by ill-gotton gains aspect, to associate those folk with the others is quite frankly preposterous.
Cappy I wish you could've been with me two weeks ago at a clinic I was in in the local hospital.I dont know if the clinic next door was for obese people but this man and wife came out and the two of them had backsides on them well over a yard wide.I think they were well over 30 stone they could hardly walk.They had a little boy with them he was on reins because I imagine if he ran away they could not of ran after him.I was sat there thinking I wish cappy was here now his face would be a treat.

jim i had a guy working for me many years ago ......each year they went toa beach resort on the east coast ......he had 6 kids and as he admitted his wife was big .......jeeez imean big........he tookthe works van with thgem insideand also a very large wagon inner tyre which he staked to the beach so it couldnt go adriftthen went for a pint nearby ......hearingthe helicopter he went outside to hear the tannoy loud and clear saying do not panic the lifeboat is on its way......about six hundred yards out was the wagon tyre with said wife esconsed uponwas drifting away on the ebbing tide ...a man next to himwas using binoculars to look at the scene ......my workmate asked could he look through the binocs .......the man said yes but jeez she is that fecking fat she is a danger to shipping .......the lifeboat came and towed the tyre ashore then shouted through the loudspeaker is the husband of the lady on the beach ....he said i just said feckit and went back in the pub and got drunk......regards cappyQuote:

Agree Marion, however I believe that within a period of time— based solely on the reading of posts and by FAIR means only—yourself, Cappy, Captain Kong, John in Oz, a few others whose name or tag slips my mind, and of course myself would have increased our few hundred by diligence, saving, investing, taking calculated risks and generally outworking our competitors. I also believe the likes of Gaits, Buffet, J.K. Rowlngs, (sp?) et al would be back on top.

I never was given a job by a poor person,you can't argue with that but as a poor person I helped that very very rich man become richer.Imagine the rich shipowner without the poor person,he couldn't of crewed his ships without the poor person who was paid under the lamp and on many occasions put up with poor food and conditions.So please don't try and make out that the rich man looked after the poor person it wasn't all one way traffic the rich man was glad to employ the poor person to make him,the rich man richer.John Sabourn is the man to tell you about the rich shipowner.

there is surely some truth in what you say jim .....but there is always someone to do that job .....like now we dont have a MNfleet anymore.....your choice was to do that job ....the shipowner didnt beg you and you didnt beg him for it ....it is what makes the world go round .....supply and demand.....the british shipowner after the sixties found he could invest his money elswhere more profitly ......it was his money......his choice.... i guess you would take no notice of anyone telling you what to do with your money.....just my view regards cappyQuote:

When I left school I made 1s/6d ( one shilling and six pence) an hour frying chips at a hole in the wall cafe called The Regence Grill Bar, right next door to the Ivy House pub, on the front, in Southend on Sea, Esssex, Eng. Had I not been ambitious and willing to work all hours going, (and wasting my beer drinking time studying). Up-rooting many times over; relocating internationally four times; moving across country at every chance of a career step-up, who knows, I could have been elevated to a fish cook by now.
There have been a lot of children who have attended university and today have good paying jobs partly because I opened companies that their fathers or mothers worked at. I created companies and jobs. There's also probably beer drinkers I provided jobs to, crying in their beer that they never had a chance...one make their own chances in life.
I am not rich, but I'm very comfortable and enjoying life and have no regrets. I paid for my comfortable life style and today I'm living off the interest.
Not all rich people are bad, not all poor people are good. The same goes for comfortable off people.
There are always going to be the haves and have nots. However in countries like India which have to have the caste system to survive, why should other countries have to support their poor. Why cant the minority with all their wealth help their own people without relying on charity from other nations. As you sow so shall you reap, in a lot of cases does not apply to those born into poverty. Most people on this site left school with a basic education the three R's. A lot do not get that advantage and are doomed if they are illiterate. We are self educated, those born with a silver spoon in their mouth mostly live on a different planet. Another reason I am against the EU which is supporting the bums like Romania and a few other countries who don't have any inititive to pull their own people up, we if stay in are only going to go down to their level, after our predessors fought so hard to raise the standards of living. If had my way would be out of Europe like a shot. All the wealth in the world that some of the rich have, is not going to give them any advantage when they pop their clogs, they cant take it with them. Most of us will have the advantage of dying hopefully with a clear conscience, after helping to support our own in hunger, strife and war. As for all those zillionaires with money stashed in hidey holes in far off places it shows what type of people they are especially when it comes to our own lawmakers, how the heck a member of the House of Commons ever got the title of Honourable beats me. They are fine example to set the country, obviously don't practice what they preach, even as no laws have been broken, certainly not people to inspire confidence in. JS
