Though in jest in the past BP was a great thread, back in 2009 one BP thread alone had 24,677 views.
Guess times change.
In the old days less politics etc and more BP.

No doubt it was, the reason why I looked it up. Yours is the 11th reply to it. Just out of interest what happens to all the replies it must have had. Does someone have a file of them. Are they kept. Or are they just sent to atmosphere. Don’t think politics are interested in. A group of mostly old men reminiscing about earlier years and no danger to anyone except themselves. They will however be useful to future generations for Ref. Points to those times and eras. Cheers JWS
This was just one: http://www.merchant-navy.net/forum/g...=black+pudding
Thanks Keith that clears up a niggle I had about certain posts I had that went astray, nice to know that not open for viewing maybe at present, someone in the distant future say about 2099 , hey I’ve discovered that someone called JWS said to a Bloke called Gulliver of Lilliputian fame that he used a blunt razor when shaving. Nice to know we will be remembered for our audacity and free speech. Thanks again JWS.
Hopefully this will solve your question JS
Over a period of time some posts do get deleted by one or other means possibly by a Moderator (such as myself) but in such Bulk no way.
It could well be the various changes to the database at times, and lastly I do think that posts are deleted after some time elapses but not 100% sure on that!
So yes unfortunately quite a bit is lost one way or the other, this cannot be helped!
Not too long ago we had the same with the Upgrade of the database and there were quite a few posts gone, but that's Technology for you LOL generally though its not too bad and most all posts do remain on site! You can look at the Archives at the Bottom of the page that may help?
cHEERS
Also may be worth explaining the site search facility ?

#16..Don’t think that’s necessary Keith. There are certain things I can do on computer but a lot can’t. I can’t copy pictures and such like, in fact my ignorance is deplorable. However am not keen on making a full time job out of it. A good excuse on not taken up a secretary’s position in other interests I have. Any other statements that may have a legal attachment to, have doctored them myself , the original documents being put in other peoples hands. So no claims of copyright can be made as family will hold all originals. I don’t want to pop my clogs leaving a bad smell. All such references I may have made inadvertently to those Shipowners, people, Armed Forces, company business, is well within the law and all such lodged with the appropriate authority. Best to be careful if not sure. Thanks for clearing up a bit of my ignorance. JWS
Having spent 30 years working with various databases on computers they used to have a habit of reindexing the Post used to be there but it wasn't in the index you didn't have a cat in Hells chance of finding it .
but having reread the spread through I was at a major national UK NHS centre for three months this year and used to amuse me that the lady in the head scarf was happily cooking bacon and sausage and black pudding and I said to her one day so you don't have any qualms about cooking it she said no there is nothing that stops me cooking it I just don't want to eat it . In this day and age she said A job's a job
I believe it was our Jim Brady who started this thread and has been missing for some time.
I did hear he broke his leg in two places, did he fall over the pudding.
But my advise ti Jim would be if you did break it in two places I suggest you stay away from them as they are obviously not good for your health.
