Des given the right incentives will have to give Cappy up. I had a cousin who was with Palm Line for many years as 2nd and 3rd. engineer. Was sitting in the bar one day on the Beechwood one of JIJs talking to a couple of ex Palm Line engineers and they mentioned my cousin, different surname to me as his mother was my aunt. He apparently left the ship in Takoradi or wherever they started their cargo work and disappeared every trip until the ship was ready to leave the coast. Apparently he had a good lady down there somewhere and had a family. His mother thought that Albert could do no wrong and went to her grave believing the same. He was drowned after leaving Palm Line, off Sheerness. He was also married in the UK with no children. He was known as Albert to the family but Tommy to these two engineers, think Thomas must have been his middle name. Cheers John S

On the isue of yesterday when I spoke of the high court decission to allow the refugees who had medical treatment to be taken back off shore. Well it has brought the 'nutters' out of the woodwork.

Human rights president said we are in breach of UN laws. Well if breach of Un laws is the case then most of the world is in breach of some of them.
But the best, the churches have all said they will grant 'sanctuary' to them. But as one poli said, 'If thta was the case I doubt the police or anyone else would drag them out but hwo do you liove in a church'?
Sanctuary was removed from the British laws by Henry 8 and was never law here.

The Church wants to keep its nose out of it. Religion is the basic cause of the worlds turmoil today. They should obey the law the same as anyone else. They have no perogative in todays modern world. Whatever God a person chooses to worship should be for that individual and in private. They should know by their own mistakes right through history that they have not been blameless. That is the Church itself and whatever leader they have chosen among themselves to lead it. JS

#13... Going back a few years on here maybe about 5 or so both yourself and me and a few others were adamant that border control was paramount to any country wishing to retain its sovereignty. Europe had lifted its border controls and we said it was suicidal, which has since proved correct. The only thing that I had against the labour party here was their lack of judgement re. illegal immigrants and this was probably a big factor in them losing the Election and so it should be. These bleeding hearts that are if the truth were known are in the minority should be told to eff off, and if they didn't like it take it to the next general election as their party piece, and see how far they get. At the present, the illegals would have thought they had views on who they supported and would be up to them to fight for their own country. How many British citizens during the Blitz skinned out during the last war? I don't have a very high threshold of sympathy towards them. Germany has a lot of admirers in the Arab world as Hitler fitted in with their ideology re the Hebrew nation, and to this day most of them still are committed to this. When Bush went public and told the world of the three great evils in the world being North Korea, Iran and some other country I cant remember, he must have belatedly found out that for years the high ups in the extremes of the fanatics had labelled America " The Great Satan". However his naming and trying to shame was diplomacy at its worse. They always say that politics and religion should never be talked about, however when they are both intertwined the problem is magnified a thousand fold. Russia as I said some time ago and was thought I was a Russian lover, is to go in and finish it once and for all, which they will do as that is their intention, whatever propaganda either side puts out the US or Russia, the target is to finish it. So as far as I am concerned staying in the running the west has had 5 years of no headway, so should get out and let nature in all its ugly forms take its path. As for those seeking sanctuary in a church, they can always send out for a McDonalds or a Hungry Jacks, like that other idiot living in a foreign embassy in London for the past 3 years or so, when I refer to the illegals I refer mainly to those of a military age, who must have no ideals as to the future of their own lands it seems, In the last war they were called conscientious objectors and went to prison, they were never in the huge amounts though who are flooding into Europe. Cheers JS

John, very well put. Russia is not the enemy that some in the west think it is all they want is the best possible for their people and one cannot deny that such desire should be paramount for any gov.

As to our ALP, Rudd and a few others forgot eh very basis in which govs were first committed. It came about way back in the early years of the first century. The main reason for a gov was to raise an army to protect the nation and secure its borders. Some how along the way that has been forgotten and that is why there are so many crossing borders with little or no attempt to stop them.

John if the news as we see it on the media reports is true and the Syrian government forces are pushing the last of the established rebels of all descriptions back towards the Turkish Border, one can think maybe the strategy of the Ruskies and government forces is to push these people up to and over the border. This will be payback time for the downing of their plane sometime ago. Then really seal the northern border, for those who don't get across make this their land they so wanted as a sultanate or whatever. I think that the residing government in Syria will have a very strong hand to play at any talks re peace in Syria. Too little and too late for some. Peace in our time as someone once said. Russia then will have what it probably wants which is sea bases in the Eastern Medd. and which others are frightened of them having. And alls right with the world.. Some hopes. Cheers JS

Re #14. If the Church wants to enter the political arena, maybe would be a good time for them also to pay taxes. JS

###the church ruled by fear for many years ......and religion has been the killer of more human beings than all the plagues and catastophes than combined ...more so than ever in the latter years .....they are the richest organisation in the world ......they distribute almost nothing .....and will take from the poorest there last penny....in shields as i grew up was a family with 11 children....the priest even took money from them.....the father was a labourer in the docks.....the church is riddled with self inflated persons who pontificate to all and sundry.....but of course people now know they will not rot or burn in hell ......the fear holding the church together is now gone ......they bring in females in high archy jobs to try and bring more members in.......it is almost a spent force ......people i am sure are now aware that doing a a good turn gives a feeling of contentment ........my feelings are there is a higher power than i know and it is my conscience that tells me this........but such a sinner i have been but also a benefactor ......i feel i have balanced my books......jeez i hope so just in case the fiery pit is waiting .....aarrg cappy
