Re: Mad Hatter's Tea Party
#19... As said cappy one doesnt have to have rich surroundings to pray, and certainly doesn't need a person who doesn't live in the real world to tell him right from wrong. The Church has more secrets than we will ever know. The idea of a chaste life for priests don't know when that started, but most of the popes had concubines and children by them. The basic rules for Christianity are about as best as we can adhere to, but even these if you read the Bible show that blood and guts were also proposed, probably the same as the alternate book, where they have adhered to in some cases word for word. Just take Sodom and Gonorah ( spelt wrong) where the words Sodomy and Gonorhea was obtained countless years ago. Religion to some gives them a feeling of well being and probably lets them face death easier. However we will find out if are fortuanate enough to die in bed, Cheers John S

Re: Mad Hatter's Tea Party
The churches here in Oz who were advocating sanctuary have suddenly had a rethink. They realized that to do so they would need beds etc in the churches, oh dear!!!
Some of the state premiers, all the Labor ones, are offering to take these people in. PM has said no, until all processing is complete we do not know who these people are and showing such weakness will only encourage the people smugglers to start up again.
Happy daze John in Oz.

Well Evan if he gets to become Secretary General of UN, the post he has always coveted, then I am sure he will be able to fix all the problems of the world. Just like he fixed ours here in Oz.

Re: Mad Hatter's Tea Party
The big cry when the Iron and steel industry came to a near dead end, the excuse was its nationalized and losing money. In other words no profit making for the big conglamerates. Immediately there was loss of jobs. What are we left with and are we better off. Some no doubt are this is the way of the world. I was brought up in a labour household, my mother had to be different and being a Scotswoman and believe there was a Scotsman leader of the Liberals for a long time voted such. Myself vote whichever way I think, couldn't care less if Labour, Tory, Communist , Socialist, Lunatic party, Raving looney party or whatever, my father was always his saying together with all his brothers who were mainly shipyard workers, riveters and shipwrights, that the working man could not afford to vote for anyone else but the labour party. I don't think that fallacy holds true anymore. The labour party no longer represents the working man, there are none left. JS
