Flag waggers are now known as Radio Operators Tactical, or RO (T) my eldest son was one in the 1980's my youngest son was a Radio Operator General or RO (G) also in the late 1980's

We probably sailed in different era's John, only sailed on one vessel with all accom aft, others were either 3 +2 or 2+1+2, old ships 40's and 50's built, modern when I sailed in them, , foremast always twixt 1 and 2 and mainmast twixt 4 and 5, so its different horses for different courses

Des, up in Bendigo mid Victoria there is still a morse station. Run by ametures they stiull make contact around the world with other guys. They run shows at times for the public to see and if you know an address will send a message for you.

Not now Bill - see my #3 - I was also LRO(G) in mid 70s and 80s. It's hard to think I have been outside for 30 years now but the comms dept has totally changed.
