One thing that is free to do and it really does save you money and that is do not leave any of your electrical stuff on standyby turning it all off when not it use ie TV /DVD, phones, computers, washing macine, stove etc. Note your present bill and then check it after you've had a quarter with all the stuff switched off, you will have a pleasant suprize.

The house down the road from us has 14 panels and went the market. The block is steep, close to bush (fire risk) and it was snapped up within weeks. Real estate adverts often show solar installation as a plus point. Our installation contract is with the installer and does not have any such clause of '25years' and the deal was with us and the method of settlement was a $8,000 refund from the federal Government paid to the installer. Shonky con artists latch onto this sort of large scale operation and the key words are be careful and get more than one opinion. We've had our system in for 5 years and it has had no hiccups.

Vic I think that you will be able to answer this.Solar panels generate 12 volts so how do they get upto 240 volts to run our appliances.????
