    Default Car insurance.

I have been trying to get Car Insurance,
    The Quotes are ridiculous.
Some are up to £4000 plus , my Insurance company. Liverpool Victoria, has increased mine by over £100 pounds this year to £657.
SAGA for the over 50s quote £900
I have a ten year old car, worth less than £1,000.
I drive 3,000 miles a year. never been involved in an accident for 20 years or so. only claim was my radio was stolen Nine years ago, the ballbag who stole it is in Syria so he wont be doing that again.
So has anyone any ideas on how to get cheaper insurance, please.
    Cheers
    Brian.

Just had to sort mine out: Previous people that I had been with for 20 years wanted to treble my mine to 1500. Told them I would go elsewhere if that was loyalty. New people 425.

Have a look at Aviva: They were great with me.

Prices From £178. That's all 10% of customers paid for standard cover.

i have a mobility car the only reason I got one was the insurance the car crime rate in Liverpool dropped 17% but the insurance stayed well above and never dropped a penny my son shares the car he was quoted over £4000.00 for a car worth £400.00 no claims of either of us mine went to over £500.00 that's after driving over 45 years and not a claim for or against me they have you by the balls how can a young lad work and being self employed needing transport? the work and pensions give you a job where public transport is non existent and if you don't take it your dole is stopped that's happened to many young lads around here? the last car I had an audi a4 went down a pothole in the road snapped the wishbone and drive shaft and my insurance told me to sue the corporation the corporation told me its my insurance that is responsible and that's a car that passed its mot 2 weeks before I got nothing and had to scrap the car? its a total rip off.. jp

Go Compare or compare the markets, I have been using these for years and always get a good price.
You also get to see a list of comparable companies and what they offer.

Thanks for your help Gentlemen. I will try so9me of the suggestions, tho` I have tried some. Meercat .com. Co Compare and Direct Line, Saga, and the Cheapest I can come up with is HASTINGS for £535
Which is cheaper than the one I am with, LV. they want £656.
All these prices are a Rip Off. They are Gangsters, they know you have to have Insurance so charge exorbitant fees.
It is little wonder that many drivers have no insurance at all.

I was told it is also your Post Code that affects insurance rates. Being in a High Moo Slim area, the price has gone sky high.
They have been operating scams. where they crash into other cars and then claim whip lash for a car full of passengers that are not in the car.
    I will keep on searching.
    Many thanks
    Cheers
    Brian

Brian I changed from LV to Hastings and saved £200, my premium just over £300 for a 2 year old Merc. It's not only the postcode that affects it, it's also the age of the car, as new cars are easier to repair than old ones (apparently!) with panels being more readily available for new cars, where-as old cars panels have to be pressed or panel beaten, all expensive. Doesn't matter if you've had an accident or not, they presume we all will have one at sometime

Hi Brian, I was with Hastings for quite a few years and it was very reasonable, but a couple of years ago they upped it quite a bit,
when I enquired as to why they said it was due to the fact that I had reached my Eightieth birthday, I had a few words about age
discrimination, but it didn't do any good, even though I've held a licence for almost 60 years, Anyway am now with Ageuk.
Buy | insurance for the elderly | Mobility Aids | Age UK am fully comp etc, motor legal protection etc total premium is £295.43p. Tis a company for oldies Brian. Chuckle.

My car is an MG.ZT-T+CDTI 2003.
