    Default Home Insurance

    Hello,

I need help, I'm trying to find a home insurance company that insures homes (and contents) that are unoccupied for around 100 days at a time. I bought the place last year but it was unoccupied and unfurnished till now so had no problems with insurers.

Possibly should mention that I'm at sea so internet is limited, making internet searches very frustrating.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be very grateful.

    Thanks

    Adam

If you bank at Royal Bank of Scotland, their Royalties Gold Insurance is one of the best,
On travel Insurance for example I go away for up to three months and the same with House Insurance.
Last year they paid out £55,000 just for my hospital and repatriation from Honolulu, no questions asked.
This year not a penny extra.
    Cheers

I would suggest that you find a broker locally and pass the problem to him and in addition ask him to get a couple of quotes so he is not just using his favourite company.make sure that he is authorised .

From what i now know of it there is a vast difference between Oz and UK when it comes to insurance.
Mix house, contents and car with the same company and save a fortune, there are very few restrictions such as the ones mentioned. Travel insurance is not compulsory thought it is wise to take some, I get mine as part of my credit card, but many do travel without any. You can take your car on the road without insurance, though not wise to do do, as if you injure some one that way they are covered by Traffic Accident Commission. The cost of that is in the registration charge, you call it road tax we call it extortion.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

My only advice, and is from experience, get your house insurance and your contents insurance from the same company, it prevents them booting you back and forwards between the two companies, its a well known delaying system to paying out in the event of a claim, KT
