Reminds me of a night I once spent in the seamns 'hotel' in Southampton. For some unknown reason the bed sheets had been starched, spent most of the night scratching.

You quite sure that was starch on your sheets Ivan? There are other elements that might stiffen certain fabrics.

John as this is just around the corner from the Pen & Wig do you think if we get 20 at the next meet up we should try and get a deal with this place for all hands.That would be an experience in itself.

Re #12- We stayed at 30 James St (Titanic Hotel) at the end of August, got a really good deal (£72 inc. a sumptious breakfast). River view room, with a themed Titanic decor, jacuzzi, plus a free cocktail on the roof terrace. Service was brilliant, mainly Scousers, and after writing a favourable comment on Trip Advisor, sent me an email putting us on their upgrade list on our next visit, so maybe, Jim, I'll throw my hat in next time we're passing, and see if they can accommodate a motley crew of ageing mariners in the crew quarters below decks.

As to the "dormitory type room" what's with the padded ceilings above the top bunks? Looks rather like a decadent bordello on your MN travels......

Looks like something from the Hellfire Club, I assume the owner has done his homework on this, but wedding parties?

I've been to some wonderful and sociable weddings, mostly in Ireland, where all the guests are in the same hotel where the reception is held, but the same room..............no thanks. I think years ago the guests would enter by a back door and sign in as Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

For those that have not been to Liverpool for many years picture 3 shows the manager standing up on the roof, directly behind him the black shiny building with all the windows is standing right on top of where the pool was.

Don wedding parties,we get lots of Stag and Hen weekends here in Liverpool so I imagine a gang of lads or girls could have good fun in this place.
