when in the textile trade the difference between a merchant seaman and a shore wallah sprung to mind whe a really decent guy ...a trouser maker by trade was trying to upgrade the type of sports trousers he was making .......and decided ....i think because ofthe way he was brought up to call them spankers ....he was thinking of brand spanking new type trouser ...he made about 3000pair a week ....he asked me what i thought .......i honestly nearly pissed myself.....could see people running round with a little tag across the back pocket saing ....spankers he changed the name to stridas
