Re: Utopia tonight 10.35 ITV
It is simple enough Jim, if we hadnt done it, then others would have done it with far worse consequences for the native Australian, the British treatment might have been bad for them, but from others like the Chinese or Japanese, they would have been exterminated completely.
The land was open and waiting for colonialisation by anyone who was passing. So we did it as was the thing to do in those days.
Cheers
Brian
Re: Utopia tonight 10.35 ITV
I posted a reply but it's gone into cyber space.Anyway Brian what it was is how can you make that prediction?Maybe if somebody else had've colonised it they may have used the indigenous population for their knowledge and put them to work and integrated them into society after 200 years.Mind you ,you are possibly right those Japs and Chinese are bad people and they most probably would've killed them all off as you say.

Re: Utopia tonight 10.35 ITV
Luck of the draw in the inevitable! Can't imagine many others would say "Sorry" for what they had no control over and return great areas of the country into 'tribal' ownership regardless of dilution. Or, I venture to add, do a Hong Kong or Macau. And what about West Papua. Compare that to the luck of non French Pacific Islands, they got the bonus, as evidenced in their migration to OZ and NZ.
The past are just, I fear, halcyon days against what is ahead.

Believe me Jim the average Aussie is just as good at whinging now. But as Brian said it could have been a lot worse. When the Spanish invaded the Canary Islands they put to death anyone who would not bow before the cross, an item the people of the islands had no idae of. Had the Spanish of the late 1400's early 1500's arrived here I am sure the same thing would have occured.

Jim here in Oz anyone who wants to get ahead has every opportunity, many Aboriginals ahve taken that road, just as alot of whites have become bums. But as in any society there are those who do and those who look for handouts. Look at the world now and tell me of any country thta at some time in it's history has not been invaded by another nation?
Re: Utopia tonight 10.35 ITV
Our Turn is coming, with mass immigration that we do not want.
Our Nation, Our way of life, is going to change forever by foreign invaders. They are here and many many more are coming, so what is going to happen to the indiginous Englishman, [ or Welshman or Scot.]
Our time in this once great land is now over for ever.We have no where to go but extinction.
Have a nice day before it all ends,
Brian, going to have a large whisky and reminice of the good days.
Re: Utopia tonight 10.35 ITV
John with respect you sound like a politician trying to justify the situation by blaming other nations like the Spanish.I dont blame anybody for wanting to do well in foreign lands my son is doing very good in Croatia.

Re: Utopia tonight 10.35 ITV
What's to justify, history is history good or bad and in a few years we can all relax because we will eventually learn that the Americans will have discovered Australia long before the Americans existed and the film will be out shortly, the leading man will either be Tom Cruise or Russell Crowe playing Captain Cook a native American from Whitby in North Carolina and that's how it will forever be portrayed. So stop getting het up about the alleged past where-in the dastardly white man was the scourge of the earth, because in the near future Gengis Khan and his hordes will have arisen from the dead and cast the white man into oblivion which was his intent in the first place
Anyway as said before, please don't apologise on my behalf for what my white forbears did, good or bad, because without their adventurous genes I may have had an office job and that would have made me go and rape and pillage in hitherto unknown lands. I do think that this subject is going around in one big circle, so perhaps the white man should draw his wagons into the traditional circle, put his female kith and kin in the centre and repel the hordes of oppressed peoples from the past who are riding around the camp circle awaiting their turn for revenge. There will be quite a few inside the circle praying for a few more dastardly white men to assist them.
