Worst I ever saw in Cape Town at that time.
Coming down from the mountain in a taxi we had to stop at a red light.
The car on our outside did not, he went over at some speed, pulled in by the kerb, a hand came out of a window, a shot was fired, a body went down and the car was gone in a flash.

But that was nothing new at that time, the ANC were all over the place, killing was not uncommon.

Doc is there at the moment I hope he can come back with some stories of what it is like now.

I went up and down in a cable car John , your parachute obviously opened. Never even thought about a road up to the top. Maybe my eyes were too dim to see and did not have my specs with me , maybe the Carlton and the Del Monica were part of the problem. That girlfriend you had in Kaapstad wasn’t called Helen was she and had 2 nieces and they all lived in Woodstock ? JS

First time I was ever up her I walked most of the way, never realised how the cable car worked.
Lost my lighter up there but the view was worth it.
Often thought about going back to look for the lighter but no doubt some uncaring person took it.
No not Helen just Shirley, and shirley you must have known here, she knew most seamen who came to the cape.
