Re: Philippine Typhoon Extremely serious
For the information and interest of concerned members. It is my understanding that Tony and Annie live in Punta Princesa which is a suburb of Cebu City and lies about 2-3 miles south-west of the city centre. It should not be confused with Puerto Princesa which is on the island of Palawan (about 350 miles west of Cebu). The latest information I can find regarding deaths in Cebu City attributed to Typhoon Haiyan ( now a day old) reports that there have been 63 deaths and 8 people are missing. Like everyone else I hope we will soon learn that our shipmate and his lady are safe.

To all of you Guys and Girls,
I don't know whether you know or not, but Tony was also a member of the SN site. His user name is stores on there. I have sent a message to their webmaster asking them to try and send a message to Tony so lets see what transpires.

Re: Philippine Typhoon Extremely serious
Well this sounds a wee bit promising on the part of Tony! But again so many missing, its a hard job to say the least to track down so many people!
Foreign Office Minister Hugo Swire MP said: “There are currently no reports of British nationals killed or injured.
Cheers
Just sent this Email, dont know it will help, but anything is better than nothing at all!

I am trying to find out about a very good Friend who lives in Punta Princesa ,Cebu he is one of our older Members on a Merchant Navy site, and since the horrific Typhoon havent heard from him or his Wife!
I wonder if there is any way you could let me know if he is OK!
His name is Mr Tony Wilding, and as said lives in the Suburb of Punta Princesa! Cebu,i unfortunately have not got his full address,as he only moved from the UK to the Phillipines lately!

Re: Philippine Typhoon Extremely serious
Further to my earlier post (#41) latest information (courtesy of daily newspaper Sunstar Cebu) indicates the latest death toll has risen to 71. Although reports remain unclear, it now seems that this figure applies to the island Province of Cebu (pop. 2, 619,360) as a whole and not just Cebu City as was first thought. Cebu City (pop.866,000) is the administrative capital of the province (and, incidentally, the oldest city in the Philippines). It is from here that all relief efforts and emergency services for the province of Cebu are being conducted and at the present time seem to be concentrating on the towns of Tabogon and Daanbantayan which are north of Cebu City (50 and 90 miles away, respectively). Although we can assume nothing at this stage, for Tony and Annie it could mean the prospects of their safe deliverance from this horrific, tragic event are now much more favourable. We can but hope.

Re: Philippine Typhoon Extremely serious
this is the difference of a seaman to all other people we may not have ever met but we care for each other? I have had a lot of mail of tony from his hospital when he got the tb out there and I tried to give him a bit of encouragement to get better as to all members going through a bad time? tony is an old salt we adapt and I am sure he will be ok until then my prayers are with him and to all cought up in the typhoon and help is on the way it may be weeks months before we know anything about tony but I have a feeling he will be ok{I hope} may be we could help in some way to finance a computer for him to get back to us it must be devastating to loose everything as well as all he has been through and doc I know you will do everything possible as you are and thanks from all who knows tony he is a good man trying to make a new life? that's all.jp

As you I do hold out much hope for Tony and Annie,i feel its just lack of communication there now,so hopefully in time he will again be able to get back on line and let us know ! Stay safe Tony!
Cheers
