Saw a bit in the news today about a pub in Yorkshire. Apparently it is the highest pub in the country and is currently snowed in. There are about 7 guests in there but according to the landlady they are not big drinkers, she claims she is losing money because of this. All they do is talk and play cards.
HI , Am not suprised, if Beer was only 2 pounds a Pint thats 16 pounds a gallon, sheer lunacy, 3 pounds a Pint 24 pounds a Gallon, taxed out of all normal thinking, same as tobacco, if sex could be taxed it would be, anything the working man enjoys is penalized with huge taxation, open season on us.
It is still snowing here in Lancashire today.
It reminds me of a Poem."UPWARDS", pronounced in Lancashire as `UPERDS`.

The wind it blew an icy blast
and in a Northern Lancashire past,
a lad came marching through the snow
and he was carrying a banner
with this ere motto.
"UPERDS"

Now a Policeman on his lonely beat
stopped this lad at th`end of t` street.
"Now were art going with that theer"
and lad whispered softly in his ear,
"UPERDS"

"Now dont go down`t clough " .Policeman said,
"Its a lonely path for thee to tread
and t` canals at bottom, deep and wide"
"Ay thats not my road " Lad replied.

Now when people were sitting down to tea,
they heard as plain as plain can be,
They thought it was final football score
until they heard this voice shout out once more.
"UPERDS"

Then a Lass came out and said
"come in Lad and sup."
but he said "Nay, I`m having none of yon,
besides I must be getting on.
"UPERDS".

Now when Sunday morning had begun
and t`lads were tacking whippets for a run.
the dogs began scratching beneath the snow,
and they found a banner with this ere motto,
"UPERDS".

Then they found a Lad,
whos name they never learn`t
His face were pale
and his toes were turn`t`
"UPERDS"

Now this story just goes to show
that if the fields are white with snow.
it isnt very safe to go.

Worst since 1963 according to the weather men and set to continue until mid April. Have any of you thougt of taking a holiday in somewhere warm?
Over here they are talking about the coldest March since 1916 !.

You say the coldest march since 1916. Here in NSW we have had the hottest March in 40 years, not down here in Cooma but around the rst of the State it's been around the 35Degree mark all the month.
