Someone must have added heavy reinforcing:rolleyes: They were a badly built heap of rubbish and should never have been allowed on the road.
My very first car was a Lada Brian. Bought it for £400 half an hour after I took my test. As you say a bit heavy on the steering, but tough as old boots. Ideal for a newly licensed boy racer!! From that progressed to Escort Mk2's and then a Humber Sceptre before settling down with company cars once I left the sea.
First of all Cars i have had a few cars but the best cars i have had were the Toyota Corolla the one i have now is the best car i have had its got all the whistle and bells .Next thing i want to say that us lot we are lucky thatwe can moan and groan about the state of how are so lets get on with life as it is worth living
Don't cars have horns or hooters down in NZ Lou:confused:
I knew that someone would take the mickey out of when i mention all thewhistles and bellsTony in Dunedin i am ashamed to say we have the worst drivers around so we wind the car windows down and scream what the bloody are you doing
Worst drivers? No mate we here in Victoria Oz have that distinction, we breed them that way. I wrote to the transport minister and said that all new learners should be made to do their first 20 hours with a qualified instructor, using family and friends means they pick up all the bad habits. His reply, 'figures from Germany show that people taught by family and friends are better than those taught by a professional driver'???????? Hello, this is Oz not Germany!!!
But it is amazing the number of drivers who buy the cheap versions of cars. You know the ones, things such as indicators, brake lights and sometimes even head lights come as optional extras. Well that is how it appears to many.
We had a case of road rage here last week of epic proportions. One guy got out of his car and went to attack the other motorist with a cricket stump, not sure where he tried to put it. Not to ne outdone the other guy got a large wooden mallet out of his boot and apparently according to a witness it was on for young and old.
John, (in oz) my son passed his test in Germany and he was not allowed to take lessons with anyone other than a qualified instructor. This was some years ago they had written, night driving, motorway, two hours none stop and some first aid.My son would not've agreed with your transport minister,I know at the time he said "all this that you have to go through here in Germany to get a licence and yet still lots of accident they must be the worst drivers in the Europe".

How do you customise a Lada?
Put wheels on it.
How can you double the value of your Lada?
Put petrol in it !
Why do all Ladas have a heated rear window as standard?
To warm your hands when you're pushing it !
What do you call a convertible Lada?
A skip !
Oldies always the best,Jim !

We had the Lada here for a while in the early 80's but now all gone. We now have Toyota, Nissan, both with the highest recall of any cars here in Oz. We have a saying here, Toyota, bland, boring and very expensive to fix.
