    Default Wages and Pensions

I see in recent press reports that our MPS are looking for a wage rise to wait for it, £94,000.00 per annum plus of course expences, which are TAX FREE.

A lot of us on here are pensioners and our pensions you will be pleased to know, will be, as of April 2013, a weekly rise of £2.69p that a whole 38p per day: WOOPHEEE.

    Default Wages and Pensions.

Pension rises in April are based on the rate of inflation for September of the previous year.George Osbourne was about to change that this year and bring out a new method for calculation I expect he was thinking the inflation figure was going to be high.As the inflation figure was only 2.2% for September I bet he will stick to the old method,I think although it is only 2.2% pensioners are on a guaranteed 2.5% rise next April.

    Default The thin edge again

Hi shipmates, £94,000 is only the bascis rate with all the other perks more like £250.000 ??? They have to spend a lot on meals and wine and travel abroad 1st class is not cheap today. The Average old age Pension a month would not buy a M.P. a good lunch with wine.? 38 pence a day wont buy a newspaper we have the 14 lowest pension in the E.U. out of 24 countries, How many of us old people freeze to death every winter in the U.K.? because they cant afford to heat and eat????

I heard on the news today that George Osbourne is thinking of freezing the rise as it was not fair to give pensioners a rise when all other public sector workers are having their pay frozen

    Addendum to thread no 1.

You really, really couldn't make this one up. The UK Government now have to give the EU £274,000000.00 yes thats millions in order to pay for the shortfall in pensions incurred by the MEPs. Whether this is a one off payment or annually it does not say in the article but that doesnt really matter does it.

I hear some horror stories about UK pensions from family and friends there, cannot believe it is so bad. Here the full pension for a married couple is now $1164.80 per fortnight. We get two indexed rises per year, the last in September was on average $20 per couple per fortnight. At current rate of exchange that $1168.80 is about 747 GBP.

A single pensioner will get $772.6 per fortnight about £495 per fortnight. Not to mention being able to earn $152 single or $268 combined per fortnight. Not taxed either. So with a modest amount in the bank a couple would be on $14368 per fortnight. Plus there are a few more lerks and perks with that as well like rent assistance. Not to mention transport fares, rates both water and land rates reduced. Pensioner discounts on goods in some shops. I think we here in Oz are not doing it to bad considering what others have. That is the basic that one can get anything else is a bonus. So when you hear of people out here being part pensioners or self funded pensioners you can be assured that they are not doing it hard. To hear some of them out here you would think that they are starving to death the way they carry on. I bet there are many in the UK willing to swap places. So imagine what our parsitic pollies are on would make your mind boggle.
That's the way the mop flops.

My thanks to Brian for this site.
