I had a farmer friend years ago and I'd gone to his farm to do a bit of lamping. I'd finished up and was putting the rabbits in my van when he turned up back from the pub just after closing. He drove his landie straight into the main barn followed by a police car on sidelights. He put his landie into reverse and demolished the front of the panda. He got out and calmly walked back to two very bemused police and asked "What you boys doing in my barn?" He was a teetoller and only used the pub for the social. He was well aware the police had tailed him. He was also well aware there was a four inch box section welded on the back of his landie in lieu of a bumper, after all, he'd welded it on! He laughed so hard after they'd gone I thought he'd have a stroke.

You may well be correct on that one. With the last state gov, a Labour one, we had a feamle police commissioner installed as part of the gov's equal gender policy. She was worse than useless and retired under some dubious circumstances.

    Default thin edge three

Hi Shipmates, We will soon have a private police force payed for by working house-holders and local business people. This will work as the petty criminals wont robb or mug anyone if they are people who can stop them with force . { Tazzer are cheap and easy to get hold of} But what will happen is the low lives will prey on the easyer targets with no rent a cop to stop them ? But with the new law you can now protect your property? so every one should have a home defence plan with weapons to use just in case.

    Default Police Elections.

Many of you like me may have had a leaflet through your door telling you of the election for the Police Commissioner.I notice at the bottom of page 2 it says, appointing Chief Constables and dismissing them if needed.I would like to draw your attention to the fact that a committee appointed Norman Bettison to the position of Chf/Con.of Merseyside WHAT A NO BRAINER a couple of councilors on that committee resigned rather than vote for him.
Norman Bettison now Chf/Con in Yorkshire wants to resign early before the shlt hits the fan over Hillsborough,I say leave the job of the police to the police and not some jumped up councilors who are fulll of their own importance to make decisions on our behalf.
    Regards.

If I voted for the Police, I would end up with the Bengal Lancers charging round town.
    .
I have shredded my white voting card. I looked at the list for me and all blank faces with no CV
so what is the point of it all.
I cannot complain as I guess it is what they call democracy. [ what ever that is.]

The soldiers went to Parliament and in the public gallery.
ROBATHOM, MP and Minister for Armed Forces tried to have them Removed from the building.
I guess he was execising his Democratic Right to tell lies without being heard.

I wish we could leave the job of the police to the police but with endemic corruption within the force there needs to be some sort of independent arbiter of their accountability.
