In most cases just being a politician is a lie all in itself. By the people, for the people, of the people????????????????????

A person needs no qualifications to enter politics. These people hold a very well payed job,make and change laws without OUR permission saying "Its for the good of the country" but reading this and other threads it seems to be a World Wide issue of incompetent Governments. If you are plausible with a gift of the gab,(like most con-men) you can get into the HOUSE and by the time your found out and voted out, what the Hell ! you have made your money and connections and can move on to something better.

Here in Oz the easiest way into politic is via a trade union. Do a good job there, bew the biggest rouble maker and the Labor party will welcome you with open arms.
