Not so sure about the compulsory voting, we have it here in Oz and we still get a bunch of idiots to run the show. Now introducing a national diability scheme to help those most in need. Only a trial basis for now as neither Federal or state can agree on who should pay. Somehow i think this like so many other schemes will end up as a dogs breakfast.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

    Default Disabled Or Faking It,

I was amused to see that foreigners were the tutors teaching the British candidates for the assessment jobs how to put British claimants off benefits.
It was said that they did not have to achieve targets but on the other hand if you were a caring type person and you could see that a person was unfit for work and you passed to many as unfit your work would be audited. Those people that you passed as unfit would get a recall and be tested by another person. It was obvious that the people working for ATOS did not agree with their practices. The main tutor a foreign woman was a specialist in some field but could not get a job in her profession so she said "I had to take this".
    Regards.

    Default Dont give a A.T.O.S.

Hi shipmates, A.T.O.S. a french company are payed a forture by the U.K. government this was started by the labour party to take sick people off benifit, this system was tryed out in The U,S,A. to get crack users'/ ex cons long term unemployed into low payed unskilled jobs, in supermarket fast food outlets and any low payed job it did not work. and a few children died as the result of this program, A few long term sick people have allso died in the U.K.due to the shock of been told that they are fit for work? After years in and out of hospital taking multi drugs for cancer/ heart probelms and mental conditions in the U.K. A freind of mine was sign off the sick in Cardiff and told she was fit for work she has terminal cancer and was on dia morphine for the pain? We had a good laugh about that, She said could she inject herself working on tesco checkout? She had a wonderful sence of humor she pass away two weeks ago age 45yrs her husband is gutted so am I, A.T.O.S. are following a government mandate to cut people on low rate benift due to real illness. Who would want to stay sick on that? A.T.O.S. are not fit for purpose !!! they only cause more probelms for very serious ill people who need more help? not to be branded as worthless beggers.

I always thought that in my days of working , your Tax was deducted from your wages to pay for your Health and Pension systems, now with Superannuation you are still paying all the taxes but young people coming into the workforce will not get any pension and yet they will pay the same if not more Taxes.
Compulsory Superannuation can crash with World recessions as have been proven.

We also pay car registration here that runs into Billions of Dollars in Australia but only 7% gets spent on the roads.

People who suffer from Disabilities in Later life and have been stricken with Terminal Diseases such as Cancer and Tumours etc are being dudded in the UK because they paid their dues when there were a part of Employed Society.
It makes no difference which Political preference anyone has , they are still dudding you regardless of your station in life, you have paid for services you are not getting.

People are unhappy with both sides of Govt here thats why we have a Hung Parliament, we can sack this lot at the next election but what are we getting in their place.

Right now I cant pick anyone good enough to lead Australia in Parliament at all on either side
but we have to protect the great system we have and fought for years to get and thats the Health system and Pensions. Same goes in England. We are all slipping in Standards. all the best Glenn

It appears that they seem to be targeting the most vulnerable, the ones who are really sick. They are the easy targets .
    .
Now I wonder when they will target the Pakistani from next door who is a superfit hero with a "bad back" runs two cars, does his gardening , because I told him to , and a house full of kids, his back does not stop him getting his leg over.
I think he claims for his wife to be his Carer, How else can he afford to live in a very good house that once belonged to an old friend until he died four years ago. and run Two cars. If he was targeted he would be shouting It is Rascist and then get away with it. These Bums from overseas are getting the genuine claiment a bad name.
    .
I have just been in Town to have an eye test. it cost me £10. I declined the glasses, would have cost me over £100 for two pair.
I looked at the list on the wall and apart from every one else who get pension credits and disability and so on benefits, it said............ Prisoners of HM Prisons get it free including glasses.
I said to the Optician,` If I shot my MP would I get free test and free glasses `he said `Yes.`
    Very Tempting

Hi Gulliver, my eye test was at BOOTS OPTICIANS ,
the basic eye test is free but if you want the full one there is a charge of £10. It is known as a `FUNDUS CAMERA EXAMINATION` where they photgraph the back of the eye, looking for cateracts and blood vessel damage due to high blood pressure or diabeties. It was OK

Post The Eyes Have It !....

You obviously don't have diabetes then Brian( good )-unlike myself,(Type 2) which I control very well with diet and tablets.
As well as free eyesight tests diabetics also get a free Retinopathy Test(similar to what you just had) every year. The NHS is looking after me quite well, after all I, like many of us, have paid in 40+ years contributions.

    All the Best

You might even get a medal from the people for that act mate. In my opinion killing a politician is doing something good for the country, more than thye do.
