    Default Proper coffee

    Hi James,
It still tastes good though! I must admit that I had a few good cups in Garden City in Perth a few years ago whilst visiting my sister and her family. We went for the "flat white".....a good cup. I noticed one of our coffee shops locally ( Starducks or Costa ) have introduced it but I found it too strong when I tried one.
    Cheers
    Kevin

Depends on how much they charged you for the first cup. Might have been enough to cover a "free" second cup.

    Default Coffee shops

This Weekend had to go up north

Costa Black Coffee in town £2.19
Costa black coffee motorway service station £2.89

    Diesel Torquay £1.44 litre
Diesel Motorway service station £1.61 Litre

Luckily have a car that does 600 miles on a tank so filled up in Torquay

Have a local coffee shop here run by a Frenchman, go in for a cup of coffee £2.00 and as many refills as you want no extra charge, as he says he makes a pot of coffee every twenty minutes, any left in the pot he would dump and make a fresh pot, so he says whilst there is some in the pot the customers may as well have it, it's not costing him any more, he's always full and makes money on the food which is always good and fairly priced.

    Default price of coffee

Hi shipmates did any one see the program on T.V about Coffee, The most expensive type of coffee is made from beans that has come out of a civet cat, a weasel like cat on some plantation in java it is the job of some workers, to find its droppings and extract the beans, The Coffee is said by many experts to be the best in the world, and the price per cup makes starbucks and they like seem very very cheap. Ugh none for me I stick with blackboy tea.

I think it tastes horrible. Why is it always lukewarm and never hot? Given up trying it now.

    Default Do you remember Coopers?

Coopers also had a great aroma of coffee beans being ground up for customers.Mixed with Kardomas aroma.Last time I smelt similar was when My wife and I went to veiw a house! Suffice to say we didnt buy it.

    Default coffee shops

Starbucks and Costa are in UK also, more in big cities, motorway service areas, big railway stations and airports, they pay high rents to get these positions, but the customer pays for that, i think it tastes like mud, far too strong. all the time people are willing to pay those stupid prices they will stay in business, same applies for fuel prices at motorway service stations, they have the monoply on those, a small company can never get one,

    Default Cafe

Hi once again Kev (and all contributors to this thread)
What I've found fascinating about this subject is the great sense of humour and camaraderie it has evoked. It's rather like studying International Relations at Uni. I tell my daughters here in Oz, that if they ever think of returning to England to live, they would make a fortune selling COFFEE.
If they could then get our shipmates to serve in the said cafe then we could name it 'Megabucks' as it would be so successful.
Best Wishes James A Stuart (Tony)
By the way my wife still swears by English tea!
