Any Tankermen remember this place in Jamaica.I can't remember the name of the port but I think the bar was the Bamboo Bar.It was a big house and the back garden was all done out in bamboo. This was an escape route in reverse. It was a Bank Holiday when we arrived there so we could'nt get a sub.About 8 of us threw a carton of cigs each into a pillow slip and off we went ashore to seek our fortune.I had the pillowslip wrapped around my wrist and we were here there and everywhere looking for buyers. We ended up in the Bamboo Bar not a penny between us and no buyers for the cigs.We were approachd by a local who informed us that "the boss dose'nt want to buy cigarettes but he likes watches".If you remember not many of us wore a watch ashore, however the two catering boys doing their first trip had both bought watches on our call at Las Palmas. The pantry boy profffered his watch first, the man went into the house whilst we are all sitting in this back garden gasping for a drink,he returned "yes the boss likes that and he would like to buy another one"the galley boy handed his over the man went back into the house. After sitting there for how long I dont know I decided to go and investigate the big house was a bar and the passageway ran right through into the street at the front.Clever, wise scousers I ask you.
Regards.

Hi Jim B
I think by memory of stories told to me by my late Brother, who was onthe British Aviator a long way back would be The Bamboo Club in Kingston Jamaica!
I bet many of you lads had some good times there!
Cheers
Hi John
Wouldnt that Cafe have been the Imperial Dock Road Cafe!?
