    Old Maltese shipmate

Watching England play Malta at footie tonight, I saw a Maltese player called Pepe. This rang a bell in my old brainbox.
I left Gravesend School 2 April 1965 and signed on my first ship, British Gull, on the 4 April as galley boy. In the next cabin to mine was an A/S called Manuel Urpani from Malta. He was about 40 [ I'm guessing ] and quite a character. When ashore his chat up line was that he wanted to introduce the girl to his "friend" Pepe [ his nickname for his todger ].
I wondered what happened to him, I imagine he's dead now, but I wondered if anyone on this site remembered or sailed with him. The only ship I remember him mentioning was MV Rangitane.
    I await with bated breath.

I did not sail with him but his mother was our neighbor in Vittoriosa (Birgu), Malta. I regret to inform you that Manuel died, if not mistaken, about two years ago.
