    Lest we forget

Some volunteered and some were pressed to sail with the merchant marine
for this was war and supplies tight, required by the allies to continue the fight.
The convoys were formed and from various ports set sail, their delivery cargo
    some destined to fail.
For the wolf packs were waiting to take them apart as the routes were patrolled
    from the very start.
Merchant vessels were a mixture of old and new, cargo ships mostly with tankers afew.
Weapons were sparce,a deck gun at best with a backup 303 for training the rest.
So remember on september the third (3)all those who reside in the deep
in davey jones locker their souls to keep.
Who sailed the seas with determined pride ,to keep the rest supplied and alive
