Usually Corks going pop , means a weasel is involved , weasel is a helluva name for a ship ?

Do you refer to the cork being thrown over the side or the skipper being a meanie Des ? I was mate on one anchor handler in earlier days , when after a successful rig shift all Hands used to gather on the bridge the cork was pulled out and consigned to the deep and the bottle passed around until empty and used to follow the cork. Until legislation came out to stop such a good practice of seamen I saw no harm with carrying on with this tradition. Cheers JS.
The legislation being of course the disturbance and cleanliness of our beautiful oceans primary, and secondary the distinct lack of bottles on ships. JS

The bottles once at the bottom made good reefs for the fish to swim around.
The corks, well enough of them and you have a life jacket.
