Gen Steam Nav.Co
The Royal Daffodil, Royal Sovereign,Queen of the Channel & Medway Queen were operated by Eagle Steamers - a subsidiary of GSNCo. Medway Queen was also officially of the Medway Steam Packet Co. She and the Royal Daffodil were Dunkirk evacuation ships.

Re: Gen Steam Nav.Co
The Medway Queen was used in WW2 as the headquarters ship of General Eisenhower , during the Normandy DDay landings. I was given the task of taking her to St.Katherines dock and lay her up.Even a white canvas cap on the funnel.! She was going to become a "party" ship for GSN staff.(across the road at Tower Hill,) BTW the GSN superintendant was named C.A. Marriot. He became to all the GSN engineers as CAM the Eccentric engineer!
Trivia....St kits was the worlds first inland dock with lock gates. The Medway Queen had both engines that revolved clockwise. She crabbed sideways up the river and gave the helmsman a pretty hard time of it. Bob Broome.
