Was it one of Furness Withy ships which had a fatal explosion on board somewhere in the middle east area after the war. The explosion was traced to toe black or somerthing similar which was liable to spontaneous combustion. Was only a very small quantity on board but had disasterous results. JS

Just remember my fathers experience at being torpedoed during WW2 ,must have been 1942 and he ended up on a lifeboat for 8 days with only water and biscuits, his mother got a telegram telling her he was missing presumed dead, but thank goodness he was one of the lucky few who came home to serve 40 years in the Benline .
Did pne trip on the Pacific Reliance 1954, nice trip had my 20th
birthday in San Fransisco.
