It's interesting to see all the different names and varieties of bedding mentioned here. In Australia we call them "dunas", while in the UK the term "duvets" is preferred. And let's not forget the good old eiderdown that was popular in the past.
Feather blankets and pillows certainly have their charms, but the problem of feathers flying out and leaving marks all over your home can be quite frustrating. And my son was allergic to a feather pillow. We struggled with allergies for a long time, until we realized that it was a pillow. On the other hand, the comfort of a down pillow is hard to beat. It's funny how our choice of bedding can bring back nostalgic memories. I remember my grandfather's greatcoat being used as an extra layer on particularly cold nights.
