The dreaded duvet

Not in our house, last time I had talcum powder was when me mum powdered my bum when changing the towelling knappy.

Was it the French invented perfume reason use a smell to hide a smell.

My favourite "duvet" was my Granddads greatcoat from the 1st world war. It was huge and heavy, but kept me from freezing at night when there was ice on the inside of the windows.
Washing machines didn't exist in my world, but we had a boiler and a wringer, and I often got my fingers caught in the wringer helping my mum.
Later, we used to hire a washing machine of sorts for a day, from a bloke that delivered it in a van. I don't remember spin dryers in them days.
Ahhh! the good old days.

Compared to some here , define recently? I suppose the day may not be far off before we will be needing the Tena pants. No way am I paying a Tena when you can get the for a Fiva in Lidl.

We had a gas fired boiler in the back yard. There was a gas tap on the side of the cooker and we pushed a rubber hose onto the nipple, passed the hose out of the window and then pushed it onto the boiler nipple, someone turned on the gas in the kitchen and mother knelt down and lit the gas ring under the boiler.

Is it just me or does that sound a bit like an old Doxford I sometimes rest my eyes and listen to the dish washer, sounds as if it is running at slow ahead at some point during the was cycle. I know maybe I am losing the plot

Blimey! that's a right modern washing machine to the one my mum used to rent, plus the wringer was outside the back door on a kind of frame thing you put your foot on when the wringing got a bit tough. That was always there.
Buttons were the major problem if I remember right, they were always getting busted.

Des what with two single beds have you not thought of reverting to making sea beds like we used to as they where whipped up in no time and can never recall having a bad nights kip in one. Mind you sometimes it was like getting into a bag of crisps when on the coast or a long time at sea lol.
