I see on the net one commentator is pointing out the terminological inexactitudes in it at a rate of knots.

#70 Some women can make their ears wiggle, some can make their eyes cross, some can shake their rear end tremble, Diana in my estimation could blush and look demure at anytime. She was Also not too choosy in her boyfriends. JS,

The latest claim is that the book was written for the American market not UK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But no doubt it will bring in money no matter where it is sold.

It was said that King Charles says it is one of the funniest books he has ever read and the clown who wrote it thinks he is his father!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Said clown will be £40 million better off. I would imagine Harry has a lot more a bullets loaded and ready to fire. This lot has been brewing for a while.

I don't believe Spare will be such a huge bestseller as predicted. Here in the UK ,yes, there has been high initial sales but booksellers have many more in their store rooms due to over stocking in anticipation.Even some high end shops as in Central London have started advertising them in front window displays for half price at £14,some even for £10. That is not unusual of course for some other titles, but the day will come ,maybe soon when Spare will be in the Remaindered Books section, and going for £2.
I haven't checked yet but I bet there are copies on E-Bay going for three figure sums!
    for a few dollars
As for me,I won't be buying it.Back in the day,I would have bought a knock off counterfeit copy in Taiwan, which are probably already printing and stocking the shelves of those little bookshops [Reading.jpg]sandwiched between the sailor's bars[Lips.gif] outside the docks in Keelung on Hoo Flung Dung Road (Not it's real name)!
A memorable purchase of mine was half a dozen copies of Peter Wright's Spycatcher (it was banned in the U.K.), back in 1982.The extra copies were intended as presents for relatives, but I didn't half sweat going through Heathrow customs!
Actually the book itself wasn't all that interesting now I think about it ! It was of course the thrill of doing something faintly illegal which appealed.

    Graham.

#78 Oh, its on Ebay hundreds of them!!!

In Taiwan I bought Pounders Marine Diesel engines for a few dollars (£56 on Amazon today) also a few other books which I used while studying for my 2/E and C/E tickets in the 70s. Got them from George's bookshop in Kaohsiung, you could buy a lot of other things in that town great place for a poung or old seaman the while away a few hours. Wonder what it is like today?

Could be a real name Graham, I was in Hong Kong on business and shipped some goods on the 'Heepon Moor Shipping Company'

I remember buying a lot of my nautical study books in Taiwan in the 50's at about 10% of the price I would have paid in the UK and couldn't afford at UK prices. Happy days! (most of the time!)
