G'day cyril, great yarn that one. Do you have alist of the ships you sailed on maybe with some dates? If you do and care to list them on site you may well get to hear from some who knew you. So sit back with a cold one and enjoy the voyage.

Happy daze John in Oz.

I sailed as cabin boy on Assiduity back in the early 70's whilst awaiting to go to college. joined her at Coryton Refinery goiing up the East coast for about six weeks - Ipswich, Kings Lynn, Immingham, Sunderland and back to Ipswich. I had a great time as the cook was taken off in Ipswich. I went back to school and on to Fleetwood Nautical College and then deep sea.
I cant remember much else

Sorry for delayed reply. I went from Assiduity to Fleetwood Nautical College studied navigation & Seamanship. Failed the exams so then went to Everards then 31/2 years deep sea. Yes where have all the ships gone ? Containerisation ! Now retired, but would love to do one more trip - stay well

Re: assiduity
My late father got me a ride on Assiduity on my school summer holidays back in 1971. My elder brother was a cadet on HMS Worcester next to Everards and knew they took cadets on trips. I did five weeks on her as a catering boy and loved it. Then went to Fleetwood Nautical College to study navigation and seamanship but failed my exams. Returned to Everards and joined Frivolity at Queenborough Isle of Sheppey. did some weeks on her then Duchess. After getting a letter of the skipper I obtained my discharge book and went to Prescot Street and joined P&O Oriana as a UDH. Now an OAP retired and would love to go back to the good old days Pete aka Pedro

Re: assiduity
Hi Pete .
Wouldn't we all. I did ten years UK coastal and deep sea, then 6years NZ coast, would do it all again, but I doubt my wife would let me Lol.
