Hi Dave, Its a pleasure to welcome aboard an Ellerman man. I served on the City of Exeter in the mid 60's as 2nd RO. Did you ever come across John Paterson? He was an apprentice aboard at the same time. Cheers Ray

On that coast they put two mates on board to get through all the survey work. Yes I was there, glad to hear from you. As you see I ended up in Oz farming in NSW. Spent the time after Ellermans as a marine Surveyor and spent 18 years working in Bombay as a P@I club surveyor then on to Singapore for two years and as my wife is an Australian we retired here.
Keep in touch
Dave

I was the other apprentice with John Paterson. After Ellermans split us up for being such a pair of p---s heads we went our seperate ways only to do the John Ellerman trip on the Jo'burg a couple of trips later.
I last saw John in Port Elizabeth he had married a South African Girl and was the Port Manager for Unicorn Marine that was in 1975. I am afraid I have not heard of him since
Best regards
Dave
