Re: frank g.
Hi Frank.
I sure recall Ariguani as I was an EDH on her from may to July 1950 (2 trips) on her regular run between Avonmouth and Jamaica. An old-timer even in 1950 she was an Elder & Fyffe's banana boat. Changing from E&F's Nicoya (JOS & QM) (Jan to May 1950) to Ariguani did seem a personal downgrade which changed only in 1951 when I changed to ship-out of Victoria Docks instead of Avonmouth. Even so, I still regard Ariguani favourably.

One of the best known pre-war classic steamers to survive into the post-war years was the 1926- built Ariguani seen here arriving at Avonmouth. She was broken-up in 1956 by which time she was probably the last coal-burning Atlantic liner.

Re: frank g.
Hi Ken,sorry to have taken so long to reply but have been away. i decided to have a break from pphones and Internet for a while. I joined Ariguani in April 51. she was not a happy ship then so only did one trip. I then moved to Tilbury pool but stuck to tramps and tankers. All the best Frank G.
