Re: Elders & fyffes
Hi Joe,
No that isn't the one. The tender was used at the anchorage at Victoria to take passengers ashore there, plus any belongings, before going up the creek . the one we had was up the Creek to TIKO, It jumped over the wall as we approached the jetty, swam to the side of the creek and along to the Jetty where its owners were waiting.
Cheers
Brian

Re: Elders & fyffes
Although an old Posting, this is one that is good to revive, found it while looking for info on E&F Lines for Will MacDonald.
Here is a PDF which i had posted for Will, perhaps other Members will find of interest as well Cheers So sad that our Capt Kong is no longer posting and in such a bad way. My thoughts and Prayers go out to him and his dear wife Anne!

Re: Elders & fyffes
Brian, I so enjoyed reading your story as it has given me an insight into the life my grandfather lived. He was an engineer on Elders & Fyffes ships out of Garston from 1923 to about 1933, he sailed on the Barranca, Tilapia, Tetela and maybe others, I am still discovering more about him. Doc Vernon has so kindly sent me new information on him which I am just following - hence finding your story! My mother would have loved to hear it as her father John McEwan Cole was my very colourful grandfather. He also used to bring home large stalks of banana when on leave, he shared them with his children and all the local kids in their area of south Liverpool, sadly I did not hear many stories about him nor anything about any of his trips so your post has meant a great deal to me and my sister. Thank you. Suzie Moore (see my post).

Re: Elders & fyffes
Hi Susan
I am sure that Capt Kong would love this Post of yours, but sadly he has not been on site for quite some time now, and i had found out that he is in a very bad way. His Eye sight going, his Walking not at all good, in fact in a Wheel Chair now, and generally his Health not at all good!
He cannot even write any longer , so i really dont know if he will see your Post, but i thank you on his Behalf as his good Mate.
We all hope that some Miracle may hapen and that he may once again join us all here!
Thanks again Susan
It will be and is appreciated
Cheers
Doc Vernon
