Brian,
THE TRADEMARK. We all did the same and an AB was readily identified by this very trait.

What a good life the Merchant Navy was, Wake up in the morning, scratch the belly Have a shower while Mother
Cooks you eggs and bacon, stroll down to the Paper Shop, buy the Daily Mirror, roll it up and hold it in the right hand tapping it against the thigh and then stroll down to the pub, Just open by now, Have a pint whilst looking at yesterdays winners, no luck there, try your luck with the Barmaid , no luck there and then someone runs in and shouts ,"The Brits going through", Leg it down to the Pool and by six o`clock your sailing to New York on the Britannic.
MAGIC.

I sailed on CAVINA in the early fifties. Good ship for me. Trinidad then Jamaica and quite short run from and to Avonmouth. Even got to take home a stalk of bananas which were still fairly rare in those long ago days, caused some comments anyway on train back to London especially with a few pints under your belt as well, happy days

Hi Bill, I did 2 trips on the Chuscal and 1 trip on the Tilapa in the ealy 70's. Great ships - great feeders, great people to sail with, and great ports. Usually 6 months and you have a ball.

Hi Daisy. The most effective way to get the information on site is to visit the Crewlists section and enter the details in your Dad's name.
