Re: Those we meet
When I was on the NZ coast we were denied entry to Wellington once I think, so berthed at Lyttleton for a few days, I can't remember getting any payment for not berthing LoL. Just as well you didn't go to West port or Greymouth down the West coast John, you would have been called on to help tie her up.

Re: Those we meet
Lyleton is now open as the port for Christchurch with a regular bus service into town.
Christchurch now looks amazing after the quake of 2011.
Hard to believe it was ever damaged looking at it now.
We have over a number of years seen the slow change with the 'Cardboard' Cathedral which is actually made of cardboard rolls.
Sadly the main one is still in mothballs and will remain so until the money required to finish repairs is raised.
Did not get into Lytleton as heavy rain had set in by the time we got back. By all accounts it is still in need of some work.

Re: Those we meet
#11 You weren’t a fare paying passenger though Des , or were you ? There would maybe passengers on that vessel who had made arrangements to visit family or anything important , and the reason they booked on that particular voyage. Don’t know what the fare was but 40 bucks doesn’t sound much for the inconvenience . JS

Re: Those we meet
#5, John could you not claim for missed port off your travel insurance. I could when we were unable to dock in the Azores owing to bad weather.

Re: Those we meet
Possible but as you have to pay the first so much I doubt it would be worth it.
