When living there I shot up to buy some cakes for afternoon tea, the bloke behind the counter asked me what cakes were, I explained them but he shook his head and said he had never heard of them, I didn't bother explaining any more, might have ended up with a tin pf corned beef,

When sailing with a Kiwi be very careful where you use the term 'deckhead'.
And if asking for a beer just try not to ask for a six pack.
