Both the kid and his father were under investigation by the FBI over post's they had made on social media regarding shooting up a school.
The farther is also going to be charged with purchasing and allowing his son access and use of the semi a automatic rifle his son used to murder those students and teachers .

The youth that did it is to be tried as an adult and if found guilty he would be punished as an adult. We do not have the death penalty, so it would be life. He is currently interned in a Juvenile facility while awaiting trial.

It has taken the authorities in America a long time top realize that by charging the parents it may help stop some of these people and the kids from being idiots that they are.

Latest, the father has been charged with being an accessory to murder.
Under state and federal law he is not allowed to buy a junior any form of guns.
He has also been hit with six other charges.

Similar happened in USA end of last year, couple got 15 years for being an accomplice in murder.
Their son took the fathers gun and went on a shooting rampage.

Maybe if such punishment were more commonplace there may be less problems.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

There will be a curious one coming up soon here in the UK.
A 12 year old boy has been charged with violent behavior during the recent riots in the UK.
The judge was due to sentence the charming little boy but decided not too.
Reason he wanted the childs mother to be in the court. When asked why she was not there judge was informed she had cleared off on holiday to Ibiza.
She has been ordered to appear in court when she returns, hope he throws the book at her. I wonder can she be charged with Failure to supervise a minor? I know they have done that in the USA, not sure aboiut here.

First, there are two sets of laws in the USA, State and Federal. Each of the 51 states sets its own penalties. As does the states, each have their own prison system as does the Federal Government. In general, a parent can be charged if the child is a repeat offender, or in this case, supplies a problem child with a dangerous weapon. In this case the father gave a gun as a Christmas present to a child with juvenile*problems.* This is a rare offence. I am sure that it is similar*in the UK.* There have been cases of a child committing*an outrageous act, but not a pattern*of similar*behavior, where the parents are not charged in all countries.

I do enjoy*this site having*had almost*5*good years*in the MN., however what I don't like is USA bashing.* How many UK parents are doing big time in prison for the behavior*of their darling little sons and daughters? This father is being*charged with multiple offences and faces 130 years in prison if found guilty, which means he will be doing big time for the rest of his life. But it is a rare occurrence.

Are parents supposed to check up each day on what their kids do while they are under 18?* I was a right bastard as a youth, I just never got caught.* My parents, both mother and father, couldn't give a damn about my sister or me and I ran wild on the streets of Southend.

Thankfully I joined the MN, and starting with the Gravesend school, I found out pretty quickly that I wasn't as tough as I thought I was. It was followed up by discipline aboard a ship and turned a*punk*into a man.

You have to understand the size of the UK is333.29 sq miles, the USA is 3,794,083 sq miles, the population of the UK is 66,97 million*the USA 333.29 million that's*5 times larger in population and ten times in land mass

. I don't own a gun or want one, some of my friends do own guns. I've never been threatened*or had a criminal offence done to me. Neither has anyone I know.* I wouldn't want*to or have to go to the Bronx in New York, but I do like New York City. I'm sure none of you want*to visit the sites of Brixton. But what you are posting on this site about Brixton would not stop me from visiting the UK, Brixton is not a fair representation of the UK neither is the crimes of the Bronx in New York city a representation of life in the USA.

    Cheers, Rodney

#7 not sure I follow you Rodney, Hopefully your reference to (however what I don't like is USA bashing) is aimed at my post#6
But seeing as you mention USA bashing , the likes of Trump would have been banged up here a long time ago. Also for all our faults he certainly would not be permitted to stand for re-election. He is doing his best to make a fool out of the American Justice system.
