Re: House of parliament restaurants and bars
Hi John.
Liz Truss was going to get one of those mattresses, but now she has to pack her truss instead. According to the BBC she will get two hundred thousand pounds for life, [which was brought in for Thatcher] after being the shortest PM in British History, I think 45 days, wonder who is next in line for a big pay out. Biggest pay out I got was Hundred and ten pounds 2 shillings and 4pence halfpenny, after twelve months away.
Better keep quiet as Cappy may want a share of the 4pence halfpenny, to help pay his expenses owing in South Aus

Re: House of parliament restaurants and bars
#21. I got a bit more than that Des but for a longer period 1107pounds - 72 p for 30 + years from the BSF. My grandfather used to wear what I thought was a truss he had a massive hernia in his nether regions, a fancy word for his scrotum. The only thing of a similar size was a painting after the war of a POW from Changi who had beri - beri in his testicles and had to wheel them around in a wheel barrow. So a truss should always be kept handy in case of similar mishaps. You must remember also Des when you got your big pay out a pound was 240 pence now it is only a 100 , and just think how many pints you could buy with a pound. Funny how in years gone by the Swiss franc was the basis of a lot of business transactions especially to the sparks on the ship for all his radio accounts , but to us herbits it was always the price of a pint and a packet of fags , fags = the ones you smoked . Cheers JS
PS Ref. The wheelbarrow job and those from the Tyne area and the Zephros incident , the art exhibition was held in Fenwick tea rooms not too long after the storms of 1947. The artist did all his sketches in blood and mud as paint brush and palettes were not available to prisoners The school actually took us to see. Today there would be screams from the parents plus all the other professional anti everything , to the fact the children were being traumatised .The same as Nelson seeing no ships, I saw no traumatised children. Re: House of parliament restaurants and bars
Major, Blair, Brown, Cameron, May, Johnson and now Truss.
Liz Truss will be eligible to claim an allowance of up to £115,000 even after she leaves No 10.
Ex-prime ministers don’t get a salary after leaving No 10, but they can claim an allowance.
It is called the Public Duty Cost Allowance (PDCDA) and is worth up to £115,000 a year.
That limit was set in 2011 and will remain frozen at that rate until at least 2023.
In 2018, The Sunday Times reported that ex-Labour PM Tony Blair had claimed more than £1m via the funding pot in the 10 years since leaving office in 2007.
Former prime ministers John Major, Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Theresa May have also claimed the PDCA.
According to the Cabinet Office annual accounts, Sir Tony and Sir John claimed the full £115,000 amount available for the years 2020-21 and 2019-20.
Major & Blair have claimed more than a £million each. Talk about gravy train.
But come on Truss 44 days as PM it would appear can claim £115,000 + £84,000 MP's salary as well. I know May and Johnson do the same.
