good afternoon, just been listening to a top tory brexiteer, and he has said that boris name in the next week or weeks will be added to the running list for prime minister and that there are no rules stopping him from doing so, intrestingly enough his parting of hasta la vista, which means i will see you later could be a clue.
i do not know if this is true, but it would bring the house down if he indeed entered the race and won it.

    Louis # 124.
Well,I would rather have a troupe of entertaining ,highly visible characters ,with an end mission of running this country and solving its problems than a party of characterless, sullen disagreeable ,mainly champagne socialist Marxists and capitalist union leaders with no aims other than to undermine any non-left government, in a futile,as it always turns out, attempt to get into power......
Oh my ! ,I should apply to join The Spectator editorial team ! I'm wasted here commenting on politics in a Merchant Navy forum.
My other forte is casualties and ship research....those were the days--just Gulliver and me,and shipwrecks galore.....

    hi john sabourn #123
good afternoon, your nephew like another seventy four million american voters, voted for trump in the last election, once again we return to the marmite question, do you like it or dont you like it, you pay your money and take your choice,
we are seven months since bidens inauguration and i leave it to your imagination to what the result of his time in office may well be, at the moment he is just about functioning, he greets and shakes hands with imaginary people, he cannot read anything from a auto-cue unless its in short clips, he is derided on the world stage, the arabs laughed at him when he asked for more oil, just like oliver twist, and in his speech in israel he spoke about the problems his fellow catholics had with the british, and that although he is irish american he is not stupid, add to that the damage he is doing at home with the green deal tactics, and his own self imposed oil embargo, he then sends out of the american oil reserves to china millions of barrels of this commodity, the same with baby foods, is this because china has so much dirt on joe biden and his brother and son, The laptop belonging to joe bidens son hunter which was hidden from the electorate during the election, shows hunter biden spaced out of his mind smoking crack and with prostitutes, it also references the deals he did with china and the ukraine, and hunter biden discusses payments to joe biden, i could go on further, but australian sky tv gives good coverage of the laptop,
so what will happen when the left cannot hold joe biden up anymore, you may say well it has nothing to do with us, but you would be wrong as america is the leader of the free world, and if america cannot lead what problems will we face, remember the capitulation in afganistan, and so before i would see joe biden make a bigger dummy of himself on the world stage, i like your nephew would prefer a man with the strength and character of good old donald trump.
ps good news about your tax,
    tom

Beyond caring now as Rishi the former LEFT Wing chancellor has re-instated the triple lock for the state pension. Looking likely to be 10%. Thank god for good old pensioners bus pass, at least we can ride on the bus all day for nothing to stay warm in the winter.

good evening, just to bring you a update on the resurgence of boris, it seems that lord crudas is behind the rally to bring boris back, as you may find lord crudas is a major backer and benefactor and his donations to the party would be sorely missed, the stand to back the return of boris was instigated by over two thousand conservative party members, and it seems it is their demand that he be on the voting list before the close,

2000 party members , it would seem Boris may well be 158,000 votes short. Starting to turn into a similar farce that Trump and the storming of the Capital building. Nothing funny about that episode as 5 people died.
So the two candidates for the leadership of the Conservative party is now between the ex chancellor Left wing Rishi Sunak and the ex LibDem EU remainer Liz Truss.

Thomas yes Trump got 71.2 million votes in the last election, however Biden "squeeked in by a mere (?) 7 million more votes. What counts to being President is the electoral college votes. Trump 304 to Bidens 538. Not even close.

    Current favorable vote,

Trump is in the favorable range of 40-44% by the major reputable independent polls. 54% have an unfavorable rating of him. He is still the favorite to win the Republican nomination. 56% Trump, 20% DeSantos and 9% Pence.

Bidens polls. Approval rating 38% disapproval 58%.

70% of those polled do not want Biden to run again. 60% do not want Trump to run again.

The problem at the moment is neither party have strong contenders against either Trump or Biden. The couple of Republican candidates for upcoming congressional seats are kissing the royal ring of Trump and it's not the one on his finger. On the Democratic side, it's dodgy coming out against a sitting president. If a candidate for the Democratic nomination for President bad mouths a sitting President, he or she is getting in trouble.

Do you think Joe Biden will run again? I suspect there may have been a deal in place that Biden would be a one term President. He would then put his VP Kamala Harris on the step towards the White House? Trump , if he was not an ex president he would be in jail by now!!! but likely as not he will be assassinated by some right wing nutter.

The wheels of the justice system roll very slowly here and US. Trump should be serving a prison sentence for insurrection, fraud and tax violations. It was the tax violations which finally led to the downfall of another American gangster, Capone.

As for Johnson, he came, he fought, he lost. Time for the many Tories on site to move on. The party is over.
