Where are the clowns?

I can never understand why some vote for an independent or an odd faction such as the Lib Dems.

In the house they have little effect and a times cane be a complete nuisance as is the case with us here in Oz in many instances.

But of course when it comes to the critical vote and they are needed to pass a bill all manner of gifts will be offered to them.
Corruption in high office comes to mind.

But H. Wilson at one time had a majority of only 1.

But as the public service is the power behind the throne I often wonder with some ideas if the public servants want the gov to fail on some ideas.

Party Politics-note the double entendre.... so , here's a letter in the Your View column of the 'i ' newspaper (17th Dec,2021)

Starmer fails to get what we see.

The never ending damming publicity and self inflicted attacks on Downing St. should be a lesson to all with ambitions to lead.
Truth and transparency would have prevented all of the mistrust and chaos now enveloping the Tory party.
If King Clown had made a statement on the first day of the stories being published saying he apologised for the behaviour of his staff and action would be taken, the story ends.
Instead he reacted as has done all his life by lying and continuing to lie digging the hole he now finds himself in. All the lies he has told during his journalism and political career resurrected.
There would not have been an election in Shropshire had he not intervened in the case of the corrupt MP.
The hole gets bigger every day, now those once loyal to him are calling for him to buried in it.

Not all the clowns are in Govt. Citizens were being interviewed on TV this morning, a lot said that they were not getting enough guidance from the Govt on what to do next about covid and what precautions they should take, I wonder what they don't understand about 'get vaccinated' which has been a theme of advice for nearly two years now. These will no doubt be the very same people who object to covid passports because the Govt will know what they are doing, the interviewer was in Grimsby, which may explain a lot, bet the Govt cannot wait to pick their brains, perhaps not, they will have to find them first.

Louis, that just about sums up my attitude to Xmas, once the kids grew up, the magic went, now, the best day of Xmas is Boxing day, because its a far away from next Xmas as i can bloody well get. But best wishes for those that do enjoy, kt

Louis, it is historical; just look back and you will see many who have gone before. They all get to a point where they think that they can do what they want but at some point it all caves in and they are found out. It goes quiet for a while but will start up again with someone else who thinks they can beat the system.
No wonder many of us have little faith as the few bad apples get the decent guys lumped into the same sleazy barrel.

Well i guess politics is off my agenda now ...at least for the xmas period .....even though i know santa is not real ......there is still something good about xmas ......the days of children bleary eyed after not sleeping xmas eve have gone in my family .....but there is hope for us all.....so may i wish all on this great site ...all they would wish for themselves .....no hard feelings from cappy ......even good wishes to ABSENT FRIENDS.....those behind the sun ......and those banished from the site.....have a good nosh ...and a few beers .....happy xmas to all cappy and co
