They were the New ones. Neil.
The old Saxonia, new in 1954 was sold to the Russians, something like `Leonid Sobonov` I think.
The Samaria and Scythia from the 1920s were broken up in the late 50s.
    By gum, I feel old.
    Cheers
    Brian.

    Hi Tony,
I dont recall the new ones from the 60s onwards. I joined ESSO and stayed and didnt sail out of Liverpool again.
The Sax I referred to was one of the four sisters, Saxonia, Ivernia, Carinthia and Sylvania. I sailed on the Carinthia in 1961, then the passenger trade went and a couple were sold and two were converted for cruising, but didnt last and then they were gone. They started to build the Cargo ships with the old names.
Time flies, they were new then old and then gone. and a new generation came and then they were all gone.
Just like us I suppose. Soon we will all be gone to that great beach at Alang in the sky.
    Cheers
    Brian, .......sobbing quietly.

Yes I did nine months on Samaria from Feb to November 1966 as P/CS. Left her to bring Scotia out new from Cammell Lairds. Also worked by the old liner Samaria back in forties/fifties in KGV Dock but didnt sail
