The old Saxonia, new in 1954 was sold to the Russians, something like `Leonid Sobonov` I think.
The Samaria and Scythia from the 1920s were broken up in the late 50s.
    By gum, I feel old.
    Cheers

Ian does mention the Samaria 1980.

Hi my first trip was in 78 on the Scythia paid off in Barry at dry dock, join Servia 10 day later stayed on her for 6 month home for a month and re joined in Antwerp for another 5 month then back on Scythia for anther 6 months paid off her in Sri Lanka she had cars as cargo and we had been battered across the pacific lost a few bits and pieces plus part of the wall on the focsule. Must admit my favourite was the Servia just something about her and the lads who sailed on her plus the run we were on Panama and long beach backwards and forwards very happy days plus the odd run to Porto Corinto very very happy days

I sailed as passenger on the Samaria in March 1953, Liverpool (I think) to Quebec, as one of the entire new crew joining the Port Quebec which was on the MANZ line run. We took an overnight train from Quebec to Halifax NS, there to learn the ship had entered Savannah for repairs. All of us were in a hotel for a week awaiting Port Quebec's arrival. I found a job in a local supermarket unloading cartons of tinned food from rail trucks. Other guys also found jobs for the week, or less.
