I was QM on the OLD Franconia in 1956, A waiter in first class dropped dead in the saloon and we had to go and get him out as the 1st class passengers were complaining of slow service. I wrote about it in `Seafaring Stories` Thread in `Swinging the Lamp` Forum and at the time of the Andria Doria /Stockholm Colision July 1956. She went to the Breakers in December 1956.
Captain was Donald Murdo MacClean DSO.

    There were Two Franconia s,
The one I was on was built in 1920 and scrapped in December 1956,

The other on was one of the four `new ` ones, The Saxonia class of sisters which came out in the 50s
In the 60s they started to sell some, of the four and one was renamed Franconia, painted green over the wall and for cruising.
    Cheers

I was on the New York to Bermuda run on RMS Franconia 1971 but I was on deck. Victor K Arbuckle was master. Enjoyed the ship.
