I went to that Diner...the Market Diner it was called. Two eggs and fries with a coffee 50c. That was in the early fifties and there was a Chinese Laundry on the bottom of 59th. St. We used to use it for cleaning and that (what else ) and buy stuff that had been left bu other seamen...dress shirts etc. 25c each.
Good times then. We used to go up to 3rd Ave and buy nylons off the carts there, 25c a pair, and sell them in the UK for 35s. The pound was 4 bucks then.
